Vacation? After summer? Try Cagayan de Oro

I’ve talked about Boracay, posted write-ups, uploaded photos. To me, there’s no place in RP more beautiful than this island off the northern tip of Panay.

But there’s another spot–just as pretty, but more exhilarating–that I suggest you visit. From Cebu, it’s only a “sleep away” when you take Trans-Asia or Cebu Ferries. It’s the biggest city (together with Davao) south of Cebu. It has an SM mall, a LimKetKai mall, huge schools, millions of Bisaya-speaking neighbors, and, perfect for tourists who love adventure, it has WHITE-WATER RAFTING.

And you know what the best thing is about WWRafting? You don’t wait for summer. In fact, after summer, when the rains start pouring and the tide is high and the current is speedy, that’s the best time to go.

Here are more pictures to entice you to make that CDO trip. To hop on a raft, pedal for four hours, and enjoy God’s free gift to mankind called Nature…

  1. What’s the youngest acceptable age for white water rafting? I would love to be able to bring my boys (ages 14, 11, 3) there. That looks like a great adventure. 🙂

  2. Hi Linnor!

When we went last month, I brought along my eight-year-old daughter and our companion brought along his five-year-old son. So for sure your two older boys are OK. But I wouldn’t suggest you bring along your three-year-old. Still too young. Also, after the summer season, the water gets rougher… so for first-timers, it might be a bit too rough. You might want to wait after the rainy season or summer next year. But it’s very, very lingaw. Thanks!

  3. ive always been a sucker for nature adventures…ive never tried white water rafting though…it looks so exciting!!!…and sooo much fun!!!… hope 2 try it one day… 🙂

  4. Hi Cherry! Yes, the adventure at Cagayan de Oro is an exciting adventure. It was our first trip there and can’t wait to go again (this time to try the Advanced Rapids) maybe next year. Hope you try it out!
