It’s all set and running! Scheduled during the nice-sounding date of 01-10-10—that’s Jan. 10, 2010—is a grand event that’s long-time coming: THE CEBU MARATHON. By “marathon,” I mean the full 42 kms. (For some, any run, even a 5K Fun Run, is, at times, called a marathon.) Why the early announcement? Because covering 42,195 meters by foot is laborious, effortful and takes time. Organized by the Cebu Executive Runners Club headed by president Jesse Taborada, this is a spectacle that runners ought to join.

Hey John,
Maybe CERC can also organize or help sponsor running clinics in order to reach out to running newbies who would like to train seriously for a marathon. Maybe Nike and Mizuno can help organize this because in Manila/ Taguig (BHS) they already have running clinics.

Nice to hear from you. Yes, you’re right. The CERC will definitely be coming up with group training sessions.. in particular to help the first-timers (those doing even just 10K runs now) to finish their first 42K.
Hope you can join the Cebu Marathon this January. Will update you with the details (route, etc) when I have them.

Yes, it open to all. Our marathons are fun ones–we don’t award cash prizes. Instead we give sacks and bags of rice to winners–to project our advocacy: “Rice is Life.” Join us and training for three months will surely win you some bags of rice.

i will be organizing a fun run or marathon for my company which is a callcenter this May, the run anyway is open to the public.
